{"id":154,"date":"2008-05-28T00:58:43","date_gmt":"2008-05-27T13:58:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elyk.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/28\/dali\/"},"modified":"2008-06-06T20:18:32","modified_gmt":"2008-06-06T09:18:32","slug":"dali","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elyk.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/28\/dali\/","title":{"rendered":"Dali"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>After an uneventful bus ride, I arrive in Dali.\u00c2\u00a0 In Kunming, I&#8217;d asked a girl at the hostel to write down the Chinese directions to my next destination, Jade Emu Guesthouse &#8211; so I showed that to a taxi driver, and was on my way.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3044\/2533189619_81a3465f08.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_8048\" \/>\n<p>It was too early to check in, so I grabbed a coffee, and jumped on the internet for a little while.\u00c2\u00a0 The place is brand new, and run by an Australian guy &#8211; the best thing had to be the power chargers in the security lockers &#8211; perfect if you want to charge an ipod, or phone, and not watch it all the time.<\/p>\n<p>I wandered around old town &#8211; it&#8217;s quite touristy, but doesn&#8217;t seem so bad, because 99% of them are Chinese.\u00c2\u00a0 China has made acquiring Visas a little tougher of late, because of Tibet and the olympics, so I think a lot of people have decided to skip it as a destination.\u00c2\u00a0 But the Chinese are in full force.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2395\/2533998074_34bef83bcd.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_8038\" \/>\n<p>Had dinner downtown, then headed back to the hostel to relax, read, and chat a little.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2159\/2533179227_7849ec605d.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_8028\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After an uneventful bus ride, I arrive in Dali.\u00c2\u00a0 In Kunming, I&#8217;d asked a girl at the hostel to write down the Chinese directions to my next destination, Jade Emu Guesthouse &#8211; so I showed that to a taxi driver, and was on my way.
