{"id":155,"date":"2008-05-29T11:56:58","date_gmt":"2008-05-29T00:56:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elyk.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/29\/north-of-the-lake\/"},"modified":"2008-06-07T22:04:55","modified_gmt":"2008-06-07T11:04:55","slug":"north-of-the-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elyk.com\/blog\/2008\/05\/29\/north-of-the-lake\/","title":{"rendered":"North of the Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Got up and headed to the Lost Angel cafe for breakfast.\u00c2\u00a0 Dave, the owner of the guesthouse had recommended it, so I figured I&#8217;d give it a shot.\u00c2\u00a0 Breakfast was pretty tasty, and every table had a laptop, so I managed to get a bit of internet stuff in as well.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm4.static.flickr.com\/3213\/2532898179_f44d980ef4.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_7938\" \/>\n<p>I&#8217;d rented a bike from the guesthouse, so from the cafe, I headed north on the main road.\u00c2\u00a0 Dave suggested I check out the north of the island, so I figured I&#8217;d give it a go.\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 The ride there was pretty good &#8211; with some nice scenery, as Dali is wedged between Erhai Lake and a mountain (which also has a name, I am sure).\u00c2\u00a0 There were plenty of kids on the road, and a lot of them were pretty excited to see a foreigner, it seemed.\u00c2\u00a0 I exchanged hellos, but the language barrier was pretty tough to break after that.<\/p>\n<p>I was pretty beat on the way back, a combination of a lack of fitness and a lack of food, I think.\u00c2\u00a0 Had a shower in the guesthouse, and then did a bit of reading in the common area.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2195\/2533740432_99a40b2638.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_7971\" \/>\n<p>Wanted to stay up later, but sleep grabbed me at about 10pm, and I didn&#8217;t put up much of a fight.<\/p>\n<img src=\"http:\/\/farm3.static.flickr.com\/2292\/2532910051_296aa7a4b2.jpg\" class=\"flickrimg\" alt=\"IMG_7954\" \/>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Got up and headed to the Lost Angel cafe for breakfast.\u00c2\u00a0 Dave, the owner of the guesthouse had recommended it, so I figured I&#8217;d give it a shot.\u00c2\u00a0 Breakfast was pretty tasty, and every table had a laptop, so I managed to get a bit of internet stuff in as well.
